From the time he was old enough to walk, Paul Jones' life centered on athletics. He devoted his life not only to teaching skills and game strategy but athletic values. From 1912 to 1920 he starred at Beaver, at Franklin and Marshall and then Geneva in football, and later was signed by the Pirates. In the next 35 years, however, he made his greatest contributions organizing and directing leagues, coaching and managing in all sports. His "PJ's" antedated the Little League, he coached church, American Legion, and intramural teams, started midget football, organized leagues for those whose school days were over but still wanted to compete. The results of tennis teaching are evident in the ranking and high school and collegiate success of the boys and girls he taught. While his work has been honored many times on the local, state and national level his true memorial lies in the success of generations of proud young people.
